Mandatory Prerequisites

There are no Mandatory Prerequisites related to creating a Utility Tariff.

Tariff: this is the primary identifier for the Tariff.

 

Name: this is the friendly name given to the Tariff.

 

Type: this is the type of energy for which the Tariff is created. The types can be Electricity, Water, Gas, LPG or Others.

 

Units: this is the unit based on which the Tariff is measured. The units can be Kilowatt hour (kWh), Kilolitre (kL), Joule (mJ), Litre (L).

 

Minimum: this is the minimum amount charged in each period.

 

Fixed: this is the fixed amount to be charged for each meter reading:

 

 

Raise Fixed Amount even if no Usage: this check box determines if a fixed charge will be raised even if there is no usage.

 

Steps: this table displays the type of usage set up for the tariff record.

Usage Type: this refers to the different types of readings on the meter. The options are:

 

 

If the Usage Type is All, Peak, Off Peak or Other, the user can fill in the following fields:

  • Units From: this is the starting usage amount from which the rate applies.
  • Units To: this is the end usage amount to which the rate applies.
  • Day/Month From: this is the start date from which the rate applies.
  • Day/Month To: this is the end date to which the rate applies.
  • Rate: this is the rate to be used in the calculation.

If the Usage Type is Demand, the user can fill in the following fields:

  • Minimum: this is the minimum demand usage that will be charged.
  • Percent: this is the percentage of the highest demand.
  • Periods: this is the number of past periods.
  • Rate: this is the usage rate.

Demand Calculation = the highest of a) Maximum demand used for the period OR b) a Minimum demand usage is charged OR c) a percentage of the Highest amount Demanded over the past "X" periods.

How Do I : Add a new Tariff

  1. In the Tariff field, enter a new Tariff ID.
  2. In the Name field, enter a name of the Tariff.
  3. In the Type field, select a Type of energy for the Tariff.
  4. In the Minimum field, enter a value for the Minimum charge for the Tariff.
  5. In the Fixed field, enter an amount to be charged and select an option from Fixed, Period or Day in the drop down list for the meter reading.
  6. Tick the check box for Raised Fixed Amount even if no Usage if required.
  7. In the Steps table, at the Usage Type field, select an option from the drop down list such as All, Peak, Off Peak, Demand or Other.
  8. Click the Application tool-bar push button: Add.
  9. Confirm that you wish to save the new record.

If the Usage Type is All, Peak, Off Peak or Other, entering the Rate value is mandatory, while other fields are optional.

If the Usage Type is Demand, entering the Minimum, Percent, Periods and Rate values are mandatory, while other fields are optional.

How Do I : Modify an existing Tariff

  1. At the Tariff field, locate the Tariff.
  2. Make changes to the Name, Type, Units, and Minimum fields as required.
  3. Make changes to the Fixed amount as required.
  4. For making changes to the Usage Type Lines in the Steps section, the user has the following options:
    1. Add a new Usage Type by entering in the Usage Type fields and clicking the Right Hand Side Application tool-bar push button: Add to add the Usage Type Line to the Steps.
    2. Change an existing Usage Type line by double clicking a line in the Steps table, modifying any of the Usage Line item fields and clicking the Right Hand Side Application tool-bar push button: Change.
    3. Delete an existing Usage Type line by double clicking a line in the Steps table and clicking the Right Hand Side Application tool-bar push button: Delete.
    4. If any Usage Type line needs to be cleared, click on the Right Hand Side Application tool-bar push button: Wipe.
  5. Click the Left Hand Side Application tool-bar push button: Change, and confirm that you wish to save the changes.

How Do I : Delete an existing Tariff

  1. At the Tariff field, locate the Tariff.
  2. Click the Application tool-bar push button: Delete.
  3. Confirm that you wish to delete the record.
